RUGBY IN GILFACH GOCH

Gilfach Goch RFC

Gilfach Goch is a small village in South Wales epitomised in the Richard Llewellyn novel 'How Green Was My Valley'. A historical coalmining community until the early 1960's when the last pit was closed, the valley has since been restored to a green and pleasant land.

Our local rivals include Pontypridd and Bridgend, with many others in the vicinity. Gilfach Goch RFC was established in 1889 and rugby is presently played in the village from junior sides under 8 years of age through to senior level. The First XV team are currently in the WRU Division 3 South-East
